How to Clock Properly Video   How to Enroll Finger Print Templates Video   Copying Finger Print Templates to Another Clocking Terminal

For long term ease of use please follow these instructions when enrolling and using the BN series Finger Print Terminals.

When enrolling Users at the terminal ensure that you record the template reference numbers accurately and only allocate employee template reference numbers using the ASSIGN USERS method described below in step 5. This is especially important if you intend to send finger templates to other clocks attached to your account.

If you have difficulties enrolling employees please follow the instructions below carefully take note of the comment here especially if you have a BN4000.

Registering a Fingerprint Template:

NOTE: When registering a finger on the terminal the manner of pressing the finger onto the sensor is different to when a clocking is made.

When registering the finger it must be placed cleanly on the sensor without sliding and left there for at least two seconds (or until the terminal indicates the finger should be removed) without it moving.

In between the three presses during registration the user does NOT need to remove their finger completely from the sensor aperture. In fact if the User just lifts their finger up a little the terminal will indicate when it is ready for the User to place their finger straight back on to the sensor. Check out the video at the bottom of these instructions.

When clocking the finger must be placed cleaning on the sensor without sliding and only be left there for a short while, in a similar way to pressing a switch down momentarily.

If the User leaves their finger on the sensor for too long they may get the message 'Locked Out'.

This is not an error, it is simply that the terminal has read the employees finger for a second time and two clockings in the same minute are not allowed.

The User should reduce the time they leave their finger on the sensor next time they clock and keep reducing the time their finger stays on the sensor until they no longer receive 'Locked Out' messages.

Registering a fingerprint template requires interaction with both the Terminal and your uAttend Account.

1

Press the Menu key on the Temrinal. Enter the default password supplied with your terminal if it has not yet been changed.

BN3000 uAttend Terminal Menu Button                      BN3000-BN4000 Buttons

In the Menu select option 1, if it is not selected already (press the number 1), then OK, User Management.

BN3000-BN4000 Top Level Menu

2

In the User Management section, select Add User by pressing OK.

    BN3000-BN4000 Add User

As soon as you select Add User the terminal will prompt you to enter a 6 digit numeric code for this template.

BN3000-BN4000 enroll user

We recommend using the employee’s birth date as an ID code. For example, a birth date of October 22, 1984 would be registered as “102284”. Each template must receive a unique code. Write down the employees name and 6 digit code for reference ready for the ASSIGN USERS step later. We have just used 123456 in the example below for ease.

BN3000-BN4000 enroll user 123456

The Terminal will then prompt the user to place a finger on the fingerprint sensor.

BN3000-BN4000 press desired finger

The designated employee should press their finger firmly on the sensor until they hear a “beep”. Upon hearing a “beep” the finger should be lifted from the sensor. Note the definition of the lines of the finger print and make sure that they are easy to see. If they are not then you might need to re-enroll the user and ask them to use more pressure when enrolling and clocking. There will be some users who cannot use these terminals and they will be the ones with a very feint finger print showing during registration. Give these users a PIN to use instead.

This will be repeated two more times with the same finger.

BN3000-BN4000 press same finger

On successful enrollment you get this message. Note the reference number against the employee name in your terminal manuel.

BN3000-BN4000 please write down finger print ID and user name

If enrollment fails try again and if it still fails make sure the terminal is still connected to the internet by clocking another user or using a PIN that you have put on the system against yourself maybe on purpose to enable you to do this.

Press OK.

Ensure that the Users finger is placed centrally on the sensor and pressed on hard enough to spread the finger print to cover as much of the sensor as possible to get a good reading. The clarity of the reading is shown after each press of the finger and you should watch to make sure that each one is similar to the last. If they are too different then the terminal will not accept the Users template and you will need to start again.

Enrollment fails normally when the employee doesn't put their finger on closely enough to the same place each time they put their finger on. Get them to use the ridge at the bottom of the sensor as a reference point and advise them not to take their finger right out of the terminal, just lift it slightly until the message 'Press Same Finger' appears again and then put their finger down again. You can look at the image of the finger each time it is registered to see if it is clear enough and similar enough to the last one. A few practices yourself on a test employee is good to enable you to understand the process before explaining it to other users. If you still have problems read the NOTE below:

NOTE: It is possible to clock with a PIN and still not be able to enroll or clock with a finger print. If, for example, you can enroll someone but they cannot see a message on the terminal after clocking telling them who they are and what type of clocking they have just carried out, In or Out, then the message from the server is not getting back to the clock through your router or firewall. This is NOT a terminal problem, it could be that something needs to be changed on your network for the terminal to be able to receive that message. This will effect enrolling employees as well.

Check that the SSID for a Wi-Fi connection is less than 20 charaters long and if necessary force the router to use either channel, 1, 6 or 11. Sometimes have Auto set for the channel causes an issue as the channel can change without warning on some routers and the clock will lose connection.

Here is a video showing the full process on the clocking terminal:

3

[Recommended] Repeat this process for the same employee with a different finger on a different hand. This is a back up template that can be used by the designated employee. This will require a unique Fingerprint ID. We recommend using the employee’s birth date in reverse as the ID code, e.g. "842210".

4

Repeat this process for each employee that will be using the terminal.

5 When there are finger print templates yet to be assigned on a Terminal the ASSIGN USERS option will be visible. Click on SETTINGS/TIMECLOCKS then click on ASSIGN USERS to proceed:

uAttend Assign Users One

5a. Click on the drop down selector next to each reference to show the list of available employees:

uAttend Assign Users Two

5b. Choose the correct employee. #1 and #2 refer to their template ID numbers. You may need to click SAVE after selecting a #1 for a User to get the #2 option to show on the list. Select all the Users #1 references first then press SAVE then do all the #2 references if you have lots of employees to add.

uAttend Assign Users Three

5c. Once you have selected the correct User click SAVE.

uAttend Assign Users Four

6 The BN3000/BN4000 is now ready for employees to clock in and out with their fingerprints.

If you want to send templates to another clock see below...

PLEASE NOTE: The BN3000/BN4000 employs an advanced fingerprint sensor. Despite the quality of the sensor, there is a certain percentage of the population that have fingerprints that will not record. These employees can still use the BN3000 to clock in and clock out by using a PIN code. Enter the PIN code on the User's screen by clicking EDIT on that line.

Here is a video that shows how to clock quickly and easily, remember, if you get the Locked Out message it means you are leaving your finger on the sensor for too long, but do not fear, that means you have definately clocked!

Copying Finger Print Templates to Another Clocking Terminal

If you have followed the procedure above then the employee finger print templates are now stored in the system.

If you add another clocking terminal to your system you can make those templates available in the second clock in the following way:

If this first method doesn't work please use method two lower down, it depends on how you allocated the templates in the first place.

Method One

1

Click on Users and MANAGE FINGER PRINT TEMPLATES

uAttend - Manage Finger Print Templates

2

Select the employees you wish to add to the clocking terminal and click on the Submit button.

uAttend - Manage Finger Print Templates 2

3

The system now tells you what to do on the new clocking terminal menu to get the templates downloaded into it.

uAttend Manage Fingerprint Templates

4

You will now see the message below:

uAttend Manage Fingerprint Templates

5

Now go to the clocking terminal, enter the Menu and choose User Mangement then Download Templates.

The terminal will then download each new template and reboot.

You can check to see if the templates have been downloaded by going to the Delete Template option and you will see a list of the templates in the clock.

Method Two

1

If the above doesn't work, try setting the clocks using the User screen like this:

Go to the User screen for the employee and click EDIT on the FINGERPRINT SYNC row:

  Time Clocks Finger Print 01
2

You will get the option to tick which clocks you would like this:

Biometric Time Clock

3

Click on Download to Devices and you should get this.

time and attendance systems

4 Then go to the clock and carry out a download templates in Menu - User Managment - Download Templates
